The Gnoll

The Gnoll is said to be haunted by a White Lady, said to wander at night crying after a man named Henry. It is believed that this could be a Henry Grant who resided there around 1810.

Pictured left is the ruin of a former two-storey castellated tower built (circa 1780) by the architect John Johnson for the Mackworth family of the Gnoll Estate, Neath (courtesy of Cedwyn Davies).

Graig y Llyn

A Green Lady was said to haunt this area every seven years. She was said to sit on a rock, dressed in her green dress, complete with green jewellery, whilst making wild-berry necklaces.

A man once approached her, and she handed him the necklace of wild berries, following which she disappeared with a bang, and he was left holding not the necklace, but a quantity of gold coins!
